Daily Post Nigeria Published A man has been confirmed dead in an auto accident that occurred along Ipetu-Ijesa/Ilesa road on Thursday night. The fatal accident happened around 9:46 pm on Thursday, about 4 kilometres from Iwaraja Junction, Omo Ijesa, Osun State. It was gathered that a V/Wagen with registration number, FFA 889KA and a CNHTC truck with registration number DKA 374XA, crashed and claimed a life and left two others injured. The Sector Public Education Officer for Osun Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Agnes Ogungbemi said the victims have been taken by their relatives. She revealed that the team of FRSC left the scene due to the violence instigated by the victims’ relatives against the operatives. ....
Daily Post Nigeria Published Two hoodlums were reported dead, many sustained varied degrees of injury, while one Taiye Kujo was arrested during an attack on officers of Ogun I Command, Customs Service, accompanied by military personnel on Thursday. In a press release signed by the Command’s spokesperson, DSC Hammed Bukoye Oloyede, the incident resulted from an attack on the Customs’ patrol team by smugglers and cohorts. He said that the “diehard smugglers aided by unscrupulous elements and hoodlums in their numbers and armed with sophisticated weapons shot and attacked the patrol team” to prevent evacuation of the contraband Three Hundred and Twenty (320) 50kg bags of foreign perboiled rice. ....

Apart from killing the alleged smugglers, Customs officials and innocent citizens are also losing their lives during altercations at border communities. Besides gun battles with the smugglers, findings by Daily Trust Saturday showed that excessive speeding by the security agents while going after the suspected smugglers contribute to the casualties being recorded.
