HOUSTON A woman who was knocked to the ground and suffered serious injuries after an intoxicated man at Houston bar fell on top of her is suing for $10 million in damages. Eileen Kay filed a complaint April 17 in Harris County District Court against Brobe Inc., doing business as Molly s Pub, Findal Inc., and James Joseph Scheurich alleging negligence. According to her complaint, Kay was a patron at Molly s Pub on Ramada Drive in Houston on April 1, 2021. She alleges that Scheurich was also a patron at the pub during that time and was obviously intoxicated and presented a clear danger to himself and to others. ....

Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles read the names of 77 new Area Seventies at the start of the leadership session of the 191st Annual General Conference at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City, Utah. The new leaders represent 25 countries worldwide. President Russell M. Nelson led a sustaining vote during the meeting. Previously, calling and sustaining Area Seventies took place on the Saturday of general conference weekend, although the new Area Seventies also will be sustained as a group during the conference, according to a church statement. ....

(AP) Nevada s governor on Friday unveiled a proposal that would allow technology companies to establish jurisdictions with powers similar to those of county governments, arguing the state needed to be bold to diversify its economy and pushing back against those who have likened the idea to company towns. “This proposal is an exciting, unprecedented concept that has a potential to position Nevada as a global center of advanced technology and innovation, while helping to create immediate positive economic impact and shape the economy of the future,” Gov.
