English 'freedom day' could see Wales caravan influx


After Wales, the south coast came second in the list, with 19 per cent of caravan and motorhome owners pining to visit once restrictions are eased.
Scotland closely followed, taking 17 per cent of the vote, with the east coast, including Norfolk and Suffolk, coming in fourth place and the north west placing fifth.
Of those surveyed, eight per cent of people said they had no plans to travel, and  four per cent were unsure about where to visit.
According to the European Caravan Federation, the rise in domestic holidaying has seen a rise in caravan sales in recent times.
Across Europe last year, there was a 12 per cent increase in caravan sales, around 235,000 in total. ....

WITH the nation set to embrace staycations, the north west has been named the fifth most popular UK destination to visit post-lockdown.
A survey by caravan and motorhome home supplier Kimberley – The Caravan & Motorhome People has revealed the most desired UK locations.
With 20% of the vote, Wales – famous for its rugged coastline and mountainous national parks – topped the list of the UK places where caravan and motorhome owners plan on visiting once coronavirus restrictions are fully lifted on July 19. The north west took home 7% of the vote and sat alongside other popular destinations, including the south coast, Scotland and the east coast. ....

For French retiree Jean-Michel Sibois, travelling will no longer be the same in the age of Covid-19. He is now among legions who have bought motorhomes to escape in their own travel bubbles.
“You don’t imagine travelling as before, on an airplane heading to a faraway destination,” said Sibois, who recently spent €50,000 ($61,000) on his leisure vehicle.
“We really wanted to be a little less confined, a little bit more at peace,” he said, citing health and environmental concerns with traditional travel.
Global sales of motorhomes have soared in the past year. ....
