Star Spangled Salute: A Black Veteran Helps Other Black Veterans Return To Civilian Life

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Air Force Veteran Xavier Bruce. Xavier served in Kandahar, Afghanistan and when he returned home, he and his wife Alisa founded the non-profit “Uplift In-Powerment”. When Xavier was deployed and was dealing with rocket attacks, he didn’t feel comfortable talking with anyone. Together they support Veterans, active duty service members and their families transition from military to civilian life. While they help all, there is a focus specifically on black Veterans because as Xavier explains, there are added stressors involved being a minority in the military and once that person gets out. He wants to help Black Veterans learn about self-leadership. Thank you for helping other Veterans Xavier, and THANK YOU for your service. ....
