The Iowa Jazz Composers Orchestra will premiere “Fertile Soil Suite” and other new jazz works by Iowa composers in Cedar Falls.
The “Fertile Soil Suite” is finally unearthed this Sunday evening at 6 at a free concert held at the River Place Plaza’s outdoor amphitheater stage in downtown Cedar Falls.
Mike Conrad, an award-winning jazz composer and artistic director, founded the IJCO and composed his “Fertile Soil Suite” especially for the IJCO and its players.

BY MICHAEL CRUMB, Senior Staff Writer Friday, May 28, 2021 6:00 AM The Downtown Farmersâ Market has announced plans to begin expanding its number of vendors and other activities beginning Saturday, May 29.
The market kicked off its return to a live, in-person event on May 1, when it opened with 115 vendors, about half of what it normally has, and it was focused on vendors who are food producers. Vendors of prepared, ready-to-eat food and those selling arts and crafts were not included in the first two weeks of the market.
