GCCC student designs logo for chamber Submitted Photo Greene County Career Center’s junior digital design and development class was challenged by the Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce to come up with a new logo for the Women In Business group. Kyle McClain (Xenia High School) won the competition with the logo celebrating the group’s 10th year of existence. Shannon Webster and Donna Saraga from the chamber were on campus to present all who participated with a bag of items donated from various Xenia businesses, including a glass engraved with the new logo. Rick Mack teaches the program at GCCC.

Kennedy remembered as ‘pillar’ of community XENIA A popular downtown area shopping area prominently displays his name. But “Kennedy Korners” does not adequately describe Jim Kennedy’s total contribution to Xenia. He impacted more than a “korner.” The longtime Xenia resident died April 4, leaving a big void throughout the community. From being a grocer to a Bible bookstore owner to the Rotary president, Mr. Kennedy was all about Xenia. “He wanted Xenia to succeed on all levels,” said Mayor Sarah Mays. “In family, in faith, in prosperity for the community. It’s a loss for the whole community. Xenia just lost one of its biggest advocates.”

Foundation auction set to begin - Xenia Gazette

Foundation auction set to begin XENIA The Xenia Community Schools Foundation’s Holiday Auction began Thursday. The annual event, usually held at the December Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours, is virtual this year and will close at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20. Proceeds from the auction will be used to fund classroom grants. The auction can be accessed at https://www.32auctions.com/XCSFHoliday. Items include various beverage baskets with a bidding price and a “buy now” option. The goal is to raise $500. The Xenia Community Schools Foundation provides grants for classroom and teacher projects. Nearly $25,000 was awarded for the 2020-2021 school year. Funded projects are geared towards enriching student learning. Some applications represent district-wide initiatives. All the grants for Xenia Community Schools’ students and teachers are beyond what regular school funding can provide.
