GCCC student designs logo for chamber
Submitted Photo Greene County Career Center’s junior digital design and development class was challenged by the Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce to come up with a new logo for the Women In Business group. Kyle McClain (Xenia High School) won the competition with the logo celebrating the group’s 10th year of existence. Shannon Webster and Donna Saraga from the chamber were on campus to present all who participated with a bag of items donated from various Xenia businesses, including a glass engraved with the new logo. Rick Mack teaches the program at GCCC.

Vehicles line up along Rockland Avenue to pick Belpre Elementary School students up from the Stone Administration Building/Early Learning Center after classes were dismissed because of a bomb threat Monday morning.
At a glance:
¯ Waterford, Beverly and Belpre students were impacted by bomb threats to the Wolf Creek Local, Fort Frye Local and Belpre City school districts Monday.
¯ The threats were delivered via the same voice over internet protocol number as last week’s threats to Wolf Creek Local Schools.
¯ Early dismissal impacted elementary and high school buildings for each district.
¯ All three school districts threatened Monday confirmed increased security will be in place in the districts today and Wednesday.
Greene County Career Center announces upcoming auction
XENIA Greene County Career Center has announced the upcoming auction of its Agricultural Research Center in Xenia Township.
The 50-acre center features a 15,400-square-foot indoor riding arena, 28 horse stalls, laboratory space, classrooms and office space. The indoor arena is named for former owner Andrea Chancey.
Sheridans LLC will facilitate the auction of the property, located at 551 Brush Row Road, at 1 p.m. June 3. The auction will be held in-person on the property and also virtually via an online link at www.sheridanteam.com.
The center was purchased by the career center board of education in 2011 and has housed the school’s veterinary science and equine science career-technical programs for high school juniors and seniors. Veterinary science was moved to Greene County Career Center’s new main campus in Xenia and equine science is being eliminated as a program offering.
