Pedigree fun facts: Known Agenda Apr 6, 2021 Kellie Reilly/Brisnet.com With his convincing victory in the Florida Derby (G1), Known Agenda becomes the latest advertisement for his sire, Hall of Famer Curlin, on the Kentucky Derby (G1) trail. Curlin is a leading son of the Mr. Prospector stallion Smart Strike, who is emerging as a sire of sires. Other champion sons of Smart Strike making a name for themselves at stud include turf star English Channel and two-time Eclipse Award winner Lookin at Lucky, hero of the 2010 Preakness (G1), and sire of promoted 2019 Kentucky Derby victor Country House. Himself a veteran of the 2007 Triple Crown trail, Curlin was still inexperienced when third to Street Sense and Hard Spun in the Kentucky Derby. But the brawny chestnut turned the tables on both to take the Preakness, and just got outdueled by champion filly Rags to Riches in the Belmont (G1). ....

Posted on February 2nd, 2021 C. Wijeyawickrema, LL.B., Ph.D. Introduction This essay was written 20 years ago. It was a reply to an essay which had strange ideas such as JVP was wicked because its members did not know English. There were several such odd points covered in the essay. But strangely, the point on JVP and English does so closely with the decision to make law college English. Only thing permanent in this world is impermanence or change. Therefore, after 20 years I do not think C. A. Chandraprema has not changed at least some of his views about this human world ....
Posted on January 31st, 2021 C. Wijeyawickrema, LL.B., Ph.D. At a time when the word LAW has become a ‘dirty’ word, because of the problems created by lawyers, Bar Association, AG’s Dept., judges, some CJs, behavior of some courts, Ranjan Ramanayaka’s tapes, and how the yahapalana parliament cheated supreme court in passing laws, the black-white-filled legal education council found a panacea to all these ills: GO BACK TO ENGLISH MEDIUM QUICKLY WITHIN 3 YEARS between 2022-24 (Government Gazette 30/12/2020). I consider this a sickening decision; one more example of Sinhale (Ceylon) going down the drain. This council of legal education is part of the Evil Triangle (politician-officer-NGO/citizen), ....
– 100 years is a time period of significance. In the last century people have seen world war, slavery, colonialism, apartheid, nuclear bombs invented and used, the emergence of technology, mobile phones, the internet, and most recently a global pandemic that shuttered the world and will soon have claimed the lives of over 2 million people in the last year alone. The world has changed so much in the last century, and few people have been lucky enough to bear witness to this transformation with a sound mind. One of these fortunate individuals was my grandmother, Viola Welikala. Her elegant soul made it to the age of 100, made it through the tumultuous year 2020, and peacefully departed this world on January 1, 2021. Through the century that was her life, her mind was as sharp as a nail, and she took in all that life had to offer. It was this way right up to the last few days of her life. ....
