Authorities Extinguish 2 Fires Sunday; No Injuries Reported

Idaho County fire crews responded to two separate fires Sunday in which no one was injured.
The first occurred about 12:55 p.m. on Cove Road and Ponderosa Ridge Lane east of Grangeville when a property owner called for assistance after the controlled burn he was managing got out of control. The Grangeville Volunteer Fire Department responded and put out the fire, the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At 2:35 p.m., the Cottonwood Rural Fire Department, Cottonwood City Police and Idaho County Light and Power were summoned to a power pole fire at Graves Creek Road and Twin House Road. The power company cut energy to the lines, and the fire was extinguished, the sheriff’s office reported. (Lewiston Tribune) ....

ICLP reports 'financially healthy;' five-year system projects planned; COVID-19 throws wrench into annual meeting | News

âIt was a big decision. The board didnât take it lightly,â said general manager Max Beach, Idaho County Light and Power Cooperative, on the cancelation of Novemberâs annual membership meeting, the first in the co-opâs history. âIt hasnât happened before, but here we are in our 82nd year and things are different.â
That difference is COVID-19, and as the nation adjusted to safety procedure to minimize spread of the disease and âflatten the curve,â so followed states and communities. This yearâs planned annual November meeting was initially to be an abbreviated affair to meet COVID safety guidelines â streamlined agenda for essential business only, seating for members only, and no lunch â but Idahoâs move around that time to stage 3 guidelines and limiting gatherings to 50 persons made even those cautious plans beyond what was acceptable for safety. ....
