On May 13, Downtown Driggs Association joined U.S. Senator for Idaho Jim Risch and the Idaho Department of Commerce to relaunch the second annual Support Local Gems initiative, which will serve as an all-day event to support Idaho small businesses as they come off a year of significant challenges.
On Friday, May 21, 2021, Idahoans are invited to Support Local Gems by giving their business to their favorite local shops and restaurants. Idahoans can get involved by shopping at a small business, dining safely at an independent restaurant, purchasing a gift card for a loved one, writing a review online, or simply saying “thank you” to a small business they love. ....

May 11 Idaho Gov. Brad Little announced Tuesday that he would end the state s participation in three federal unemployment programs meant to aid those struggling financially because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Little said Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation, Pandemic Unemployment Assistance and Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation would end on June 19. Together, those programs offer an additional $300 weekly payment to unemployed individuals, extend unemployment benefits after regular limitations are exhausted, and provide unemployment for people usually ineligible for unemployment, such as the self-employed. ....

BOISE – Gov. Brad Little announced today Idaho will end its participation in three federal pandemic unemployment compensation programs to help employers get workers back on the job.
“Employers are telling me one of the big reasons they cannot recruit and retain some workers is because those employees are receiving more on unemployment than they would while working. We see ‘Help Wanted’ signs everywhere. Idaho has the strongest economy in the nation, and we are a top 10 state for best employment, but there is more we can do. It’s time to get back to work,” Little said. “My decision is based on a fundamental conservative principle – we do not want people on unemployment. We want people working. A strong economy cannot exist without workers returning to a job.” ....
