Blue Cross of Idaho and the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health are providing $122,000 in grants to the nonprofit. The grants will allow the Boys & Girls Club to employ a full-time, licensed professional counselor to support the mental health needs of children who attend any of the seven club locations in Ada County. The funding also will help support the Triple Play Program, which helps at-risk children improve their overall health and well-being through wellness programing focusing o ....
Blue Cross of Idaho adds directors to board Mary Beth Flachbart Elva “Cookie” Allen The Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health appointed Elva (Cookie) Allan, Marybeth Flachbart and Jenny Robertson to its board of directors. Allan has worked for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe since 1999 and is the director of strategic initiatives and development office. She has been an advocate for Latino and Native American issues dating back to her work as a legislative aide in Washington, D.C., for members of Congress from Arizona, California and Texas on policy matters related to those two populations. She also owns and operates Advanced Management Strategies, a consulting firm. She has undergraduate and graduate degrees from Eastern Washington University and is pursuing a doctoral degree in education from the University of Idaho. ....
BOISE â Sixty elected officials in Idaho completed the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Healthâs annual Steps for Schools walking challenge, earning $50,000 for schools in the state. The Steps for Schools walking challenge encourages Idaho legislators and other elected officials to be active, set a good example and earn money to donate to a school or school district of their choice. The schools can use those funds to purchase equipment or sponsor programming that encourages children to be active. These funds also can be used for any COVID-19 relief efforts happening at the school. Participants had two options in this yearâs challenge: average 5,000 steps per day in February to earn $500 or average 10,000 steps per day to earn $1,000 for a school or school district. There were 40 participants who reached the 10,000-step goal this year. ....
