When the Ticonderoga Class Aegis Guided-Missile Cruisers was introduced, it was one of the most advanced destroyers before DDG 51.
After the Second World War, missile technology improved fast, and large guns were replaced. Eventually, surface ships used rockets as the primary offensive weapons.
Twenty-two of the ships designated as (CG52 - CG73) are equipped with two mk41 Vertical Launch Systems (VLS) with eight Maritime Tomahawks each. The initial five ships from (CG47 to CG51) have a twin launcher included as armament, reported Naval Technology. ....

The Liberal government has approved the purchase of a U.S. radar system for installation in the Royal Canadian Navy’s new fleet of warships.
Canada has asked the U.S. to provide the AEGIS Combat System, SPY-7 radars and related equipment at an estimated cost of $2.2 billion. The radar system and other equipment will be installed in the new Canadian Surface Combatant fleet which will cost taxpayers an estimated $77 billion. ....
