The history of the Australian designed and developed Ikara anti-submarine missile will soon be published by the Naval Historical Society. It is at the final manuscript proofing stage before launch in mid-2021.
The book traces the story of Ikara from concept development to feasibility study in 1959 through to approval, design, production and service ending in 1991.

Austin III spoke by phone today with Turkish Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar to underscore commitment to the U.S.-Turkish bilateral defense relationship and collective security through NATO.
The Secretary thanked Minister Akar for the significant role Turkey is playing as part of the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan and in support of the ongoing peace process there.
The two leaders also discussed the positive diplomatic developments and efforts to reduce all tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean, where the Secretary welcomed ongoing exploratory talks between NATO Allies Turkey and Greece and the commitment of both governments to this process. ....

The U.S. has green-lighted the sale of Javelin FGM-148 missiles and related equipment for $36 million.
The Government of Norway has requested to buy 120 Javelin FGM-148 Missiles; and two Javelin FGM-148 Missiles Fly to Buy. Also included are 24 Javelin Block 1 Command Launch Units (CLUs) retrofit kits; spare parts; publications and technical documentation; personnel training; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistical and program support.
The prime contractors will be Raytheon/Lockheed Martin Javelin Joint Venture of Orlando, Florida, and Tucson, Arizona. ....

The report, which was released Wednesday, found the plane was identified as a hostile target due to a mistake by the air defense operator…near Tehran and two missiles were fired at it.

Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, which had just taken off from Tehran s Imam Khomeini International Airport on January 8, 2020, was struck by two missiles from Iran s Revolutionary Guards.
