Covid-19: Transfer tests run by PPTC to go ahead in autumn Published image copyrightGetty Images . The Post-Primary Transfer Consortium (PPTC) said papers would be significantly modified to take into account the disruption to pupils education because of Covid-19. The tests for the 2022 intake will be held on Saturday 13 November. PPTC assessments are used, in the main, by Catholic grammar schools. Those schools will have their own admissions criteria for 2022. In a statement on Monday, PPTC which runs the GL tests, said 13 November was a date that reflected the desire of parents and teachers that the assessment be held in November rather than later in the school year , and that testing at centres would ensure all pupils had the same experience. ....

Christian Brothers Grammar in Omagh, Co Tyrone, and Mount Lourdes Grammar and St Michael s College in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, have said they will rule out the use of transfer tests due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. St Mary s Christian Brothers Grammar School in west Belfast abandoned the use of transfer tests last month. Some grammar schools in Derry, Newry, Kilkeel and Belfast have also ruled out using transfer tests this autumn. ....

ALTHOUGH Fermanagh Choral Society is unable to host its annual Christmas Concert this year because of Covid restrictions, the society has managed, with the help of social media technologies, to prepare and produce a virtual concert for Christmas. The Secretary for Fermanagh Choral Society, Bridget Rippey, said: “Our Chair and committee have decided that the virtual carol service should be our gift to our community. “We particularly want to reach those in our care homes, in hospital or those who may be unable to be with family this Christmas, and – of course – our patrons who support our concerts every year with their steadfast attendance.” ....
