Demands intensify for resumption of in person learning in Michigan by March 1
Michigan Democrats, backed by the corporate media, are ramping up pressure to reopen schools by March 1, the “recommended” deadline set by Governor Gretchen Whitmer for the resumption of in-person instruction. The planned February 24 reopening of the Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD), the state’s largest, is being used as the model to open larger Democratic-administered districts around the state.
At a press conference February 17, Whitmer’s Chief Medical Executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, confirmed that there are 157 cases of the B.1.1.7 COVID-19 variant in the state, which originated in the United Kingdom. Only Florida (433) and California (195) have more confirmed cases of the variant, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

GENESEE COUNTY, MI County health officials suspect an outbreak of COVID-19 cases that has shut down in-person classes at LakeVille High School was sparked by a non-school sanctioned, out-of-state wrestling tournament.
Medical Health Officer Dr. Pamela Hackert told members of the county Board of Health Wednesday, Feb. 17, that officials are also concerned that the cases could be the result of a more contagious coronavirus variant because so many of the wrestlers who attended tournaments in Wisconsin or Ohio have tested positive.
LakeVille High School moves to virtual learning after increase in coronavirus cases

OTISVILLE, MI LakeVille High School has transitioned students to virtual learning following an increase of COVID-19 cases in the building.
LakeVille Community Schools, a small district with facilities in Genesee and Lapeer counties, announced the high school would be closed effective immediately in a Wednesday, Feb. 10 letter from Superintendent Mike Lytle to families.
Students will switch to a virtual learning platform through Friday, Feb. 19, returning to face-to-face instruction on Monday, Feb 22.
All after-school programs are also canceled until further notice.
