Health officials suspect wrestling events may have sparked COVID-19 outbreak at LakeVille High School

GENESEE COUNTY, MI County health officials suspect an outbreak of COVID-19 cases that has shut down in-person classes at LakeVille High School was sparked by a non-school sanctioned, out-of-state wrestling tournament.
Medical Health Officer Dr. Pamela Hackert told members of the county Board of Health Wednesday, Feb. 17, that officials are also concerned that the cases could be the result of a more contagious coronavirus variant because so many of the wrestlers who attended tournaments in Wisconsin or Ohio have tested positive.
