The Hustle Report: Hustling in the Gubble

The Hustle Report: Hustling in the Gubble The Hustle Report is BACK! Share this story Week 1 Results Canton Charge 102 vs. Memphis Hustle 114 (1-1) Lakeland Magic 98 vs. Memphis Hustle 87 (1-2) Salt Lake City Stars 96 vs. Memphis Hustle 104 (2-2) Oklahoma City Blue 120 vs. Memphis Hustle 96 (2-3) With the unique G-League season, I’ve decided to make some minor changes to the weekly Hustle Reports. With everything virtual and the opportunity to write more recaps, those will be hyperlinked in the section above where the Hustle record is listed, instead of listing each game in breakdown format like I have done in years past. So if you’re looking for an in-depth breakdown on what happened the week prior, be sure to check out those recaps! Most everything else will stay the same as years prior but with the expectation that the following week’s previews will be longer with so many games in a short amount of time.

Recap: Hustle outshine the Stars in Orlando

Recap: Hustle outshine the Stars in Orlando Share this story Photo by Juan Ocampo/NBAE via Getty Images It was a quick turnaround for the Hustle after their defeat yesterday against the Lakeland Magic. With the game ending around 4:30 CT, they had very little time to recoup and reenergize before this mornings 10 AM CT matchup against the Salt Lake City Stars. With both teams sitting at 1-2 entering today, the morning matchup is critical for both teams to avoid a 1-3 start with just 11 games remaining following this one. It was another sloppy start for the Hustle, as they committed 10 turnovers in the opening quarter. The 10 turnovers, combined with the incredibly poor shooting, caused the Hustle to be down 24-14 at the end of the quarter. The Hustle shot just 5-18 (27.8%) from the field and 2-10 (20%) from deep. Meanwhile the Stars got 11 combined points from Trevon Scott and Tyler Bey to balance out the scoring effort that was partnered with their great defensive execution. Bec

Have you heard? No Herd this year

By Jim Scott (WNFL) – First, there was this news. The NBA G League announced today that 18 teams, including 17 NBA G League teams and G League Ignite, will take to the court in February at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla.  The top eight teams will advance to a single-elimination playoff. But it wasn’t too long after that that it was announced that the Herd which plays in Oshkosh at the Menominee Nation Arena will not be fielding a team. Wisconsin Herd General Manager Dave Dean said in a statment, “At this time we are not participating in the G League’s modified season. We commend the league for providing this opportunity while keeping health and safety as a top priority. This was a difficult decision for us, but it was made in the best interest of the Herd and the Bucks. We remain deeply committed to Oshkosh, Menominee Nation Arena and our great fans.”

Sioux Falls Skyforce Officially Out of 2021 NBA G League Season

Memphis Hustle (Memphis Grizzlies) Raptors 905 (Toronto Raptors) Salt Lake City Stars (Utah Jazz) Santa Cruz Warriors (Golden State Warriors) Westchester Knicks (New York Knicks) Sioux Falls has opted out of participating in the 2021 season. In a joint statement released by the Skyforce and Miami Heat, the decision was made due to the Heat s deep run in last season s postseason and playing outside of Sioux Falls. “After our run to the NBA Finals and with the quick turnaround to the 2020-21 season, we made the decision to not participate in the upcoming G League single-site restart,” said HEAT Senior Vice President, Basketball Operations/General Manager Andy Elisburg. “We are very proud of the Sioux Falls Skyforce and our history in the G League and plan to resume play in Sioux Falls as soon as we are able to return.”
