With sun-glinted waters on one side and historic estates on the other, the Geneva Lake Shore Path, about 90 miles northwest of Chicago, enjoys everlasting popularity with locals and visitors.
Glimpses of opulence abound on the path, which traverses past multi-million dollar lakefront properties that include the estates for the Wrigley family (as in Wrigley chewing gums) and many more of the Chicago elite, past and present.
âItâs a great place to dream,â said VISIT Lake Geneva President and CEO Stephanie Klett, who frequents the path after work, either taking a walk starting in the City of Lake Geneva or driving to the west end of Geneva Lake to begin her trek.Â
The iconic Geneva Lake shore property is planning to open to the public again in spring 2021.
It is one of 12 sites and museums operated throughout the state by the Wisconsin Historical Society.
Currently, the society wants to reopen four places next year â Black Point; Old World Wisconsin, which is near Eagle; Circus World, in Baraboo; and Madisonâs Wisconsin Historical Museum.
Black Point Director David Desimone said the idea is to open weekends only in May 2021, then resume operations seven days a week June 1.
It is a âvery fluidâ situation, said Desimone. âThe safety of our guests and staff continue to be our main priority, so opening dates could change, depending on where we are at with the pandemic and cases of COVID-19 at that time.â
