Search called off for 2 missing boaters in Lake Conroe Published: Updated: Tags: Lake Conroe missing boaters (KPRC) LAKE CONROE – Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office has called off a search for two boaters who went missing in Lake Conroe Friday evening. Montgomery County Pct. 1 Captain Joe Sclider said five people went out on a boat in Lake Conroe to enjoy the sunset when a 26-year-old woman fell into the water. Her boyfriend jumped in to save her, according to Sclider. A third person also jumped in to help when the two began to struggle in the water. Sclider said a nearby boat was able to rescue one of the three people in the water, but the two others remain missing. ....
The Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce has named Scott Harper as its new president a position he held nearly a decade ago following the resignation of Brian Bondy in January. Bondy had accepted a position as the president of the Granbury Chamber of Commerce. Harper has more than 21 years of nonprofit experience, with 16 of those with the YMCA in Tampa and Houston, according to a news release from the chamber. After his graduation from the University of Southern Mississippi, Harper started his professional career with the corporate fitness center of Wal-Mart. Harper was hired in January 2012 to serve as the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce president. ....
Updated: 12:47 PM CDT May 3, 2021 CONROE, Texas Lake Conroe reopened Monday to normal lake traffic and activities, according to the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management. The San Jacinto River Authority and Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable Office said residents and other visitors can hit the water beginning noon. They re asking boaters to exercise caution as there may be debris and submerged objects that are not fully visible. With submerged bulkheads, lake area residents should also be cautious of electrical outlets and equipment coming into contact with water, release said. According to officials, SJRA is currently releasing water from the Lake Conroe dam in order to gradually lower the water level back to conversation pool of 201 feet. The agency is also discharging 8,120.0 cubic feet per second from the dam, the office said. ....
Lake Conroe closed due to high water levels, other potential safety risks Published: Tags: CONROE, Texas – The San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) and Montgomery County Constable Precinct 1 have announced that Lake Conroe will be closed Saturday as a result of the heavy rain that pushed through the area Friday and overnight into Saturday. According to the announcement, the lake closed at noon because the rain created issues like “high lake levels, the possibility of submerged objects, floating debris, and other hazards that could pose safety risks.” The SJRA is working to release water from the dam in order to get the water back to the normal level. SJRA and Montgomery County Constable Precinct 1 said they will monitor any additional rainfall events throughout the weekend. ....
Heavy rainfall prompts water release from Lake Conroe FacebookTwitterEmail 1of32 Heavy rainfall that moved into Montgomery County raised Lake Conroe a foot above its normal pool level, prompting the San Jacinto River Authority to start releasing water, Friday, April 30, 2021, in Conroe. Normal pool for the lake is 201 feet, however, by Friday afternoon the lake was up to 202.23 feet and rising. SJRA officials said several areas around the lake and some tributaries had seen several inches of accumulation.
