1. Why are you running for mayor?
DAVE BRONSON: I’m running for mayor because the city that I’ve lived in for 30 years, where I’ve raised my kids and where I intend on growing old, has become unrecognizable. I can no longer just sit on the sidelines and enjoy the benefits of living in this great city as it deteriorates. It’s time for me to get involved and change the direction of Anchorage.

Multiple COVID-19 cases temporarily halt all in-person teaching at Lake Otis Elementary in Anchorage

All Lake Otis Elementary School students have moved to online classes after the Anchorage School District confirmed “several cases of COVID-19 at the school involving multiple students and staff” last week, according to the district.
This is the first instance of an entire school moving completely online for 10 days, said Anchorage School District spokeswoman Lisa Miller.
A number of individual classrooms in the district have moved online after the reopening, but not whole schools. Since returning to in-person classes, “there has been roughly 2-5 classes transitioned to online learning at any given time due to COVID-19,” Miller said in an email. ....
