Marion County has more than springs Check out these 10 hiking trails

8282 SE County Road 314  Part of the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway, this 2.5-mile linear trail in east Ocala travels through a wetland landscape with palm trees and cypresses. A wooden boardwalk will take you to an overlook of the wetlands.  The large trees make for a shaded hike, but the swampy terrain can also draw mosquitoes, so make sure to pack bug spray.  The Marshall Swamp Trail is a hidden gem that will make you feel like a jungle explorer in an otherwise urban landscape. Keep an eye out for armadillos, deer, alligators and other wildlife.  The free trail is open from sunrise to sunset daily. Leashed pets are welcome. There is a stabilized parking area and restrooms.

This weekend in the Adirondacks: A mixed bag of spring conditions

A Fisherman on Lake Eaton in Long Lake NY Under Changable Weather Spring Skies. Archive Photoof the Day by Nancie Battaglia Apr 22, 2021 Much of the region was hit with several inches of snow this week, and no doubt a few die-hards strapped on their skis for one last glide over the smoothest terrain in the Central Adirondacks where some areas received as much as 5 or 6 inches. That’s mostly gone now, or will be tomorrow. Muddy conditions will remain for this weekend, although areas outside the Central Adirondacks and High Peaks remain dry enough for some good hiking. DEC mud season advisory remains in effect, so avoid hiking above about 2,500 feet, especially in the High Peaks, Giant Mountain, McKenzie Mountain and Sentinel Range Wilderness Areas.
