The former governor of Bayelsa state also urged all the APC members and those that are yet to join political party to take advantage of the ongoing exercise in the ruling party. Punch Newspapers Sections Kayode Oyero Residents of Igangan in the Ibarapa Local Government Area of Oyo State have narrated how the now-ejected Seriki Fulani, Abdulkadri Saliu, used his son, Ibrahim Saliu, to free herdsmen arrested for various heinous crimes in the area. The President, Igangan Development Advocates, Wale Oladokun, disclosed this in a statement titled, ‘What actually happened between Sunday Igboho, Seriki Fulani and Ibarapa residents’. According to him, the Seriki Fulani, who had lived in the town for several years before his eviction last week, served as the “protective shield and supreme defender of vicious Fulani herders for several years throughout Ibarapaland”. ....

He said the National Assembly has the powers and moral authority to respond to the calls if the Presidency is not doing so. Soyinka said this while speaking in an interview on AIT’s Kakaaki programme on Wednesday. He said, “The Presidency is saying it’s not my responsibility. On the other hand, the National Assembly keeps saying it wants the President to take action. When that happens, why doesn’t the National Assembly say “fine, we take this as our responsibility, we are obliged to the people who elected us here, the shout is heard even by the deaf today that this nation must restructure, and if that has to be done through the constitution, we are now going to face this as one of our major tasks” and then lead the Presidency on its own? ....

The PUNCH had reported that the President appointed four new service chiefs on Tuesday after much pressure from Nigerians that he bring in fresh hands to pilot the country’s anti-terrorism war especially against Boko Haram in the North-East. The new service chiefs are Major-General Leo Irabor as Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru as Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo as Chief of Naval Staff; and Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao as Chief of Air Staff. ....

It was gathered that the incident happened around 4am leaving several shops completely razed by the inferno.
