The Georgia Family Planning System (GFPS) (www.georgiafamilyplanning.org) operates under the administrative leadership of The Family Health Centers of Georgia, Inc. (www.fhcga.org). GFPS became the Office of Population Affairs (www.opa.hhs.gov) Title X grantee for Georgia in 2014. Since 2014, the network increased the number of women, men and teens who accessed family planning in Georgia by 39%.

The Red & Black: Can you give me a run-through of how your clinic has been handling COVID-19 since the beginning of the year [2020]?
Richardson: With the onset of COVID-19, which was about the end of February 1, we put in place a protocol. We made an A and a B team so that we wouldn t have all of our staff in the office every day. . Another thing that we put into place was a frequency of sanitizing. If we had a patient who was positive our cleaning team would come in and sanitize after each of those. Eventually, for safety and efficiency, we were able to see people under the tent, meaning that we could triage them there before they entered the building, because after having a few positives and having the building sanitized every time, it can be expensive. â¦ Our website also included a COVID testing link, which is still on our website, so that people can go there and they can register. Athenians are met with extensive lines and new COVID-19 tests

As Athens residents return from the holidays and University of Georgia students return to campus for the spring semester, Athens COVID-19 test providers have seen a surge in demand for testing. This increased demand has caused long delays and alternative methods of testing.
UGA offers COVID-19 testing through their surveillance testing, which allows for students and faculty who are asymptomatic to get tested for free.
Rachel Evans, a metadata and special collections librarian, told The Red & Black about her experience waiting and receiving a test administered by UGA.
Before winter break, the longest Evans had to wait in line was 20 minutes. On Jan. 4, Evans arrived at Legion Field and noticed the line was stretched from the parking lot to Lumpkin Street â she had to wait over 45 minutes to receive her test. ....
