Jenna Fischer, who played Pam on the classic workplace comedy, explained recently why her Season 5 proposal scene with John Krasinski’s Jim at a gas station was the priciest in the show’s nine seasons.
In her “Office Ladies” podcast with co-star Angela Kinsey (Angela Martin), Fischer set up the segment by noting that original showrunner Greg Daniels wanted to surprise viewers by having the couple get engaged at the start of a season and in an ordinary location.
Inspired by a gas station he traveled to as a child on Connecticut’s Merritt Parkway, Daniels directed the show to recreate the facade of a rest stop there from Google Street View, Fischer said.

Actor Mark York, who played property manager Billy Merchant in The Office US, has died following a “brief and unexpected illness”, his family confirmed.

The obituary released by York’s family continued: “Even though he has been paraplegic since 1988, he had such an outgoing, uplifting, positive attitude and personality. He always tried to look at what he could accomplish and do, not what he couldn’t do. He had experienced many travel opportunities and many dreams for the future.”
York first played Billy Merchant in The Office season two episode 12, The Injury. The episode saw Dunder Mifflin boss Michael Scott (played by Steve Carell) bring Merchant in for a Disability Awareness meeting which, unsurprisingly, goes off the rails. The fan favourite episode revolves around Michael burning his foot with a George Foreman grill and comparing the injury to a disability.

Well, a 13-year mystery has finally been solved: Turns out the sperm donor was none other than former tennis star Andy Roddick.
The Office: We Finally Know Who Jan s Sperm Donor Was Supposed To Be
One of the enduring mysteries has finally been solved, and it s unexpected.
A long-running mystery from The Office has finally been resolved. Fans of the American show may recall how Jan Levinson (Melora Hardin) had a child through a sperm donor, but the audience was never informed to who the donor was.
In their re-watch podcast Office Ladies, Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesly) and Angela Kinsey (Angela Martin) revealed that the sperm donor was originally going to be revealed in the 2008 episode, Goodbye Toby. It was supposed to be professional tennis player Andy Roddick, of all people.
