The H-E-B plus! at Loop 1604 and Potranco has been frequented by a cat who started visiting the grocery store sometime in 2020. Store manager Serenity Hernandez told MySA that Zuko showed up about six months ago near the garden center. According to H-E-B spokesperson Julie Bedingfield, the female feline has been named Zuko by the H-E-B partner who is adopting her. Abraham, Zuko’s new owner, said he named her after a character in “Avatar: The Last Airbender” because she bears resemblance to a character in the show who has an eye patch, Bedingfield told KSAT. ....

On April 22 starting at 1 p.m., H-E-B locations across Texas are giving away 200,000 reusable grocery bags to celebrate Earth Day. The bags were designed by Julia Rojas, a 12-year H-E-B Partner from San Antonio, and are made from recycled plastic bottles. Every H-E-B across the state will give away the bags while supplies last. Bringing reusable bags from home can help eliminate excess plastic waste and save trees that are turned into paper bags. H-E-B also announced that it s revitalizing its recycling program, joining the How2Recycle program to make recycling instructions on packaging more clear. Stores will also make plastic recycling bins more visible and urge customers to bring in plastics they can t recycle at home (like those plastic bags you won t need anymore). ....
