The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows the US companies to employ foreign workers in speciality occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise. The technology companies depend on it to hire tens of thousands of employees each year from countries like India and China. ....
10 Feb 2021 President Joe Biden’s abolishment of key migration controls during his first three weeks in office is receiving the most pushback from voters. The latest Morning Consult poll which surveyed nearly 2,000 registered voters and was conducted between February 5 and 7 with a margin of error of +/-2 percentage points found that of the 28 executive orders signed by Biden at the time, voters least supported his revoking of controls at the United States-Mexico border and expansion of legal immigration levels. The most unpopular order, Biden’s plan to increase refugee resettlement by 960 percent next year, is opposed by about 48 percent of voters and is supported by less than 4-in-10 voters. Roughly 52 percent of swing voters oppose the increase, as well as 76 percent of Republicans and even 24 percent of Democrats. ....
9 Feb 2021 The Boeing Company is outsourcing 600 American information technology (IT) jobs to Dell Technologies, which regularly imports foreign visa workers, while expanding its production base in India. This month, Boeing executives announced that they would be outsourcing hundreds of IT jobs to Dell Technologies about 10 percent of the company’s IT employees as it intends to lay off 11,000 of its employees this year after laying off 20,000 last year. Dell, which will absorb some of Boeing’s IT work, has a record of outsourcing American jobs to imported foreign visa workers through the H-1B visa program. Through one of its many subsidiaries, Dell sought to bring 600 H-1B foreign visa workers to the U.S. this year to take American jobs at an average salary of $119,000. ....
