(Mugshot via Elwood Police Department ) ELWOOD, IL A June 24 hammer attack at the Jackson Generation power plant being built in Elwood has resulted in three criminal charges against 38-year-old construction worker Nicholas Dahm of Lowell, Indiana. Dahm and a fellow 45-year-old construction worker got into a disagreement over a grinder saw and a fight ensued, according to Elwood Police Chief Fred Hayes. During the argument with his fellow construction worker, Dahm grabbed a hammer, and he struck the 45-year-old man in the left ear, and then he continued to punch the victim several times in the head, according to Hayes. ....

Derrell Draper was taken into custody by Elwood police and booked into the Will County Jail around 10:30 p.m. Saturday and charged with one count of first-degree murder. On Sunday evening, Elwood Police Chief Fred Hayes told Patch that homicide victim Robert Bigger of Shorewood and Draper were coworkers at The Home Depot warehouse at CenterPoint and both men had just finished their shift and left work around 3 a.m. ....
ELWOOD, Ill. (WLS) The man who was found shot to death in a car Friday in southwest suburban Will County has been identified. Robert Bigger, 30, of Shorewood was found dead inside a car with the windows shot out Friday morning along Baseline Road in Elwood, according to Elwood police. He could have been leaving work, but that s something investigators are exploring as a possibility, Elwood Police Chief Fred Hayes said. Hayes confirmed they are conducting a homicide investigation, and the Will-Grundy County Major Crimes Task Force is assisting, officials said. As the investigation continues, authorities are asking for the public s help to find the gunman responsible for killing the man. ....
