Blue Jays Blow Past St. Mary's, Advance to State Qualifier

JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jays girls basketball team kept its foot on the gas in the second half to take down Bismarck Saint Mary’s 72-36 in the loser-out bracket of the WDA tournament.
Jamestown’s Annie Nabwe was spectacular once again for the Jays, leading the team in scoring with 23 points and collecting 12 rebounds for another double-double. Senior Grace Hegerle finished with nine points, and Katie Falk had eight points with seven rebounds. Ella Falk chipped in with seven points and five boards.
The Jays led 35-18 going into the halftime break and used an 18-4 run to open the second half to push the Saints out of the game. The victory over St. Mary’s was the third this year for Jamestown in three attempts. ....

Blue Jays Girls Win Big on Senior Night

JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jays girls basketball team dominated on Friday as they defeated Williston 71-29.
Four Jamestown players finished in double figures, with sophomore Katie Falk leading the way for the Jays with 14 points and five rebounds. Junior forward Annie Nabwe finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, and senior Grace Hegerle contributed 11. Ella Falk had 10 points on the evening.
Kaylee Panchot got the start on senior night for the Jays and scored a season-high six points. Off the bench, Haylie Hakanson had seven points, and Hunter Peterson chipped in with six.
Jamestown improves to 13-6 overall on the year and will take on Watford City tomorrow to round out the regular season. The Blue Jays currently hold the #4 seed in the WDA tournament, holding the tiebreaker over Bismarck High for 4th. ....

Blue Jays Hold Off Braves; Win Fifth Straight

JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jays girls basketball team went to Mandan and never trailed as they defeated the Braves 66-55 on Friday night.
The Blue Jays were lead in scoring by senior Grace Hegerle who finished with 16 points to lead all scorers. Annie Nabwe was a menace on defense and on the glass once again, she finished with 14 points. Nabwe is the current leader in the WDA in rebounds per game, averaging 10 a contest.
Ella Falk contributed 10 more points for Jamestown, and senior guard Jordan Finck had nine points, all from three-point range.
Off the bench, Breanna Oettle scored in double figures once again, finishing with 10 points and was stellar at guard. Katie Trumber chipped in with two. The win for head coach Andy Skunberg was the first for him in Mandan in his career. ....

Blue Jays Girls Drop Home Opener, Boys Fall

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown and Minot squared off in WDA girls basketball Tuesday night at Jerry Meyer Arena in the Jays home opener.
Jamestown started fast with a 9-0 run to start the game but the Majettes battled back and grabbed a 35-29 lead by halftime.
Minot increased the lead to as many as eight in the second half but the Blue Jays fought back and built its lead to as many as eight midway through the second half.
Minot chipped away and regained the lead in the final minute when seventh grader Maggie Fricke knocked down a three ball. After a Jays miss, Fricke nailed a couple free throws to ice the game. ....
