Wilson, a student at Elberta High School, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2008. Since, he has battled MD. To help his family with the expenses of treatments, medications, and hospital bills, EDM Security, Elberta Co-Op and Beebe’s Pest Control came together to host a fundraising event. All proceeds from the event went to the Wilson family. Eddie Hamlin of EDM Security and friend of the Wilson family spearheaded the event, with Elberta Co-Op providing the location and entertainment and Beebe’s providing dinner plates, which sold out during the event. By Jessica Vaughn ELBERTA - Deena McMullen with the Elberta Co-Op recently received awards from Agri-AFC for Seed Largest Percent Increase and Pro Products Volume. McMullen has a strong background in the horticultural industry, with multiple degrees and 30 plus years of experience. She’s been with the Elberta Co-Op for over 13 years, where she manages the Garden Center (otherwise known as the area where Jolene the pig lives!) “I feel privileged to work for a company that offers so many things to so many people, and especially our hardworking farmers,” said McMullen. “They deserve so much of our credit. Also the management and staff here at the Co-Op. William Carlew [store manager] allows me to get out here and go after the sale, he gives me a lot of latitude.” ....
