El Dorado students quarantined after rise in COVID-19 cases

Oak Ridge High sophomore Kamaile Curley is worried about the increasing number of students at her school testing positive for the deadly virus. Her mother is fighting breast cancer. If I got COVID, there s no doubt it would affect my family, she said. The principal of the school, Aaron Palm sent a memo to parents on Tuesday acknowledging higher than normal number of positive COVID cases, which resulted in higher than normal quarantine levels. The memo went on to add that additional action steps responding to the issue would go into effect starting that day.Curley said that besides seeing more of her peers being asked to quarantine, she has seen nothing in terms of additional safety measures or enforcement of public health guidelines on campus. There are kids over here who have their masks completely down, Curley said. I ll be in PE, math, culinary, cooking, and literally they’ll have it under their nose, or it s barely on.
