WBBJ TV June 28, 2021 JACKSON, Tenn. The roof of the world. That is where Elaine Christian found herself in the fall of 2019. Chair of the Jackson-Madison County Library Board of Trustees, Christian took a spiritual journey after the death of her husband. During her first solo trip, she visited Bhutan, Nepal, and Tibet. Christian says she wanted to share her story while also helping raise money for the Jackson-Madison County Library. “We love our library. We feel our library is so incredibly important, so anything that we can do to help give back is important,” she said. She says the trip was more than just a travel experience, it was also a healing journey. ....
Plans beginning for Bicentennial celebrations throughout Madison Co. View Comments As the year-long Bicentennial Celebration is set to begin in less than two months for Jackson and Madison County, celebration coordinator Elaine Christian said a plan is coming together to make sure that celebration gets outside the Jackson city limits. “We’re working with the volunteer fire departments throughout the county and other groups in communities to schedule and plan heritage celebrations for those areas,” Christian said. Those areas were identified when a group of about 50 people representing the entire county met at the Emergency Management offices at McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport earlier this month to discuss the concept of celebrations throughout the county. ....
