HARTFORD, Conn. A woman was shot and killed inside a house Wednesday evening on Sisson Avenue.
Police say they responded to the scene after receiving reports of shots fired. Officers found several rifle shell casing in the street in front of 28 Sisson Avenue. Police added bullet holes were found at the home and when officers entered the first floor, they found a 55-year-old woman dead from a gunshot wound.
The area has been blocked off by police.
Police said the woman was cooking in her apartment at the time of the shooting and they believe the incident was a drive-by shooting. It is unclear if she was the intended target. Her identity has not been released yet by the police.
Community members came together across Connecticut this Memorial Day weekend to honor and remember veterans who are no longer with us. The Town of Orange had to cancel its annual parade due to the rainy weather, but they still found a way to hold a special ceremony Sunday. The town moved the event inside the High Plains Community Center to honor local veterans who are no longer with us. The ceremony included a salute, wreath-laying and a reading.
