Pilgrim Festival Chorus to host open auditions for fall season COURTESY OF THE PILGRIM FESTIVAL CHORUS PLYMOUTH Pilgrim Festival Chorus, the not-for-profit community choral ensemble, invites singers from the South Shore area to open auditions at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 23 and 30. Co-artistic directors William B. Richter and Elizabeth Chapman Reilly will welcome newcomers of all skill levels to learn about PFC and audition for vocal placement, if they wish, at Faith Community Church (formerly United Methodist Church), 29 Carver Road, Plymouth. Rehearsals for the fall season begin at 7 p.m. immediately following. In October, PFC performs a special concert, “Pilgrim Journey: Songs of Faith and Courage,” to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the landing of the Mayflower. Originally planned for October 2020, this concert focuses on the faith and courage of the Mayflower’s passengers. The program features the premiere of a specially commissioned work by Massac ....
Community Content PLYMOUTH Due to the pandemic, Pilgrim Festival Chorus cancelled its 2020 season, last performing in the winter of 2019. However, PFC is still championing a new choral commission in preparation for the hometown commemoration of Plymouth’s 400th anniversary in concert, now postponed until next fall. “PFC is a community of singers who are invested in producing choral music together. In lieu of singing during the pandemic, we’re thinking ahead and strategizing to optimize the premiere of this new work once mainstream performance for our choral-loving audience is reinstated,” said William B. Richter, PFC artistic director and a founder. “Even though we can’t be together, we are actively and passionately looking forward to the future.” ....
