Pillar of the community, Aurora James, known to friends and family as Irma, died on March 31. Mrs James, who had lived on the Blackbird Leys estate for 55 years, was well-known in the community for her charity work. She began volunteering for the Sailors’ Society in 1988 after her late husband Eli James encouraged her to become a fundraiser. She said back in 2018, when she was celebrating 30 years of volunteering for the charity: “I knew nothing about Sailors’ Society - Eli gave me the push to do it. “Old age is getting the better of me but for them, and for my husband, I will go the extra mile. It is a permanent memorial to him.” ....

The men’s squad prevailed, winning 187-90 while the women posted a score of 175-96. Sage Moore won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.00. Moore’s swim moved her from sixth to fourth place in the school record books, beating her previous best time by .5 seconds. She was also a part of the first place 400-yard medley relay (3:56.64) along with her teammates Iryna Tsesiul, Sonsoles Aguayo and Alexa Mar ....
Sipprell, James W. Sunday, December 13, 2020 James W. Sipprell James W. Sipprell succumbed to his long battle with lung cancer and pulmonary fibrosis on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Because he was a fighter, he did not receive this diagnosis and go gently into the night; he continued to live as best he could until he couldn’t. He passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by family he loved, and in the care of an amazing hospice team in his adopted homeland, the foothills of Tennessee.
He was born on Aug. 21, 1945, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to the late James and Nellie Sipprell.
He is survived by the love of his life, Kathy (Tootsie) Jones Sipprell and his children, Nicole Ela (Jake) of Canada, his adored son, Robert Sipprell (Eryn) of Canada, Jackie Taylor (Roy) and Jamey Gaston (Michelle). He is survived by his grandchildren, Spencer Schorle, Kelle Ann Thompson, Tori Gaston, Matthew Gaston, Brenna Ela, Emily Ela, Konnor Ela, ....
