For a company that has been around since 1923 and employs over 700 employees, E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. has a lot of details to deal with every day. The family-operated company based in Atlanta, GA performs a variety of transportation construction jobs from Augusta to Macon and northern Georgia including roadway work, structural bridge work, and asphalt paving and sales. On any given summer day, E.R. Snell is dispatching 150 to 200 asphalt trucks, a vast majority of which are third party truckers. Matthews Contracting Company Inc. are making considerable progress to complete the $63 million, Phase 1 of the I-16/I-75 Improvement Project this summer and Phases 2 and 3 this upcoming winter. Since ground was broken inâ¯April 2017â¯on theâ¯Georgiaâ¯Department of Transportation s (GDOT) I-16/I-75 Improvement Project in Macon, crews from E.R. Snell Contractor Inc. and C.W. Matthews Contracting Company Inc. are making considerable progress to complete the $63 million Phase 1 this summer and Phases 2 and 3 this upcoming winter. The $27.4 million contract was awarded to E.R. Snell Contractor Inc. of Snellville. Work is expected to begin at the end of May and completed within 18 months, though, according to Transportation Director Roque Romero, work could be completed sooner depending on the number of crews working simultaneously. Romero said heâll have more details following a pre-construction meeting to be held in about three weeks. Roads to be repaved were determined using the Georgia Department of Transportationâs Pavement Condition Evaluation System. The program assigns a rating to roads, based on pavement condition, using a 0-100 scale, with 100 being the best. ....
