New program steps up internships for UMaine graduate students


Many colleges offer summer internship programs for their undergraduate students.
Now the University of Maine Graduate and Professional Center is making that opportunity more accessible to graduate and professional students in the University of Maine School of Law, the University of Maine Graduate School of Business, and the University of Southern Maine’s Muskie School of Public Service. 
The Maine Center Graduate Internship Program comes with a twist. Typically, internships pair, say, law students with law firms.
“We didn’t want to do that,” Terry Sutton, CEO of Maine Center Ventures, told Mainebiz.
Maine Center Ventures is a nonprofit that supports the University of Maine Graduate and Professional Center by serving as a liaison between the academic and employer communities.  ....

Camden Midcoast creative agency Naretiv has won a Broderson award, an annual award that highlights branding and advertising work by Maine-based agencies.
Naretiv, based in Camden, won a first-place Gold award with a multi-media advertising campaign for home equity loans from Maine State Credit Union. The campaign spanned across all media, including video, radio, print, and online, and featured original art and motion-graphics to emphasize the flexibility of the credit union’s home equity line. Naretiv won in the category assigned for integrated marketing campaigns above $50,000.

March 15, 2021 (Augusta, ME) – Over the past 15 months, Hydro-Quebec has exploited a loophole in state ethics law by spending a record-breaking $10 million on a statewide political campaign aimed at persuading Maine voters to support the controversial Central Maine Power (CMP) transmission corridor.
Hydro-Quebec’s ballot measure campaign represents an unprecedented effort by a foreign government to meddle in Maine elections and has generated concern in the Maine Legislature where lawmakers will today hold a public hearing on three bills that would prevent government-owned entities or foreign nationals from engaging in Maine referenda campaigns.
