UK Announces New Program to Support Local Venture Capital Formation


LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 24, 2021) The University of Kentucky (UK) Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) is pleased to announce the offering of Launch Blue Ventures (LBV) to support the growth of venture capital for startups in Kentucky. A part of Launch Blue, a startup accelerator program developed by UK OTC in partnership with Bluegrass Angels (BGA) and Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation (KSTC) and others, LBV is a venture capital management services program supporting the development, provision and management of venture capital to benefit Kentucky startups.

UD Signs Collaborative Commitment : University of Dayton, Ohio

The University of Dayton is the first university to sign onto the ethical and fair trade learning commitments sponsored by the Community-Based Global Learning Collaborative.
“These commitments reflect a human rights-based approach to global and local community engagement that centers the perspectives, leadership, representation and meaningful engagement of impacted populations and those who are most vulnerable,” said Shelley Inglis, executive director of UD’s Human Rights Center.
UD President Eric Spina formally signed the agreement on May 18, 2021.

Pennsylvania plan to consolidate and redesign system could lead to 1,500 jobs lost


The two-part plan lays the groundwork for integrating Bloomsburg University, Lock Haven and Mansfield University into one western institution, and California University of Pennsylvania, Clarion University and Edinboro University into a northeastern institution.
So far, praise for the plan has come from Pennsylvania’s higher education decision makers. PASSHE chancellor Daniel Greenstein, the Board of Governors and presidents at the universities marked for consolidation largely support the effort. The Board of Governors could vote to approve the plan as early as July.
Since the consolidation was announced last summer, Greenstein has framed the process as inevitable. He said during a State Senate hearing last month that if the board does not approve consolidation, he will recommend dissolving the state system. ....
