Credit Med Center Health Residents and staff at a long-term care center in Allen County are among the first in Kentucky to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care in Scottsville is immunizing about 100 residents and workers this week. The nursing home is owned by Med Center Health whose hospital in Bowling Green was one of 11 in Kentucky to receive the state’s first shipment of the vaccine. Eric Hagan, Vice President of Rural Hospitals for Med Center Health, says once residents and staff are vaccinated, the facility will be able to lift restrictions on visitation. “I think this vaccine is not only an answer to prayers for that, but it will hopefully help people take advantage of those opportunities more to visit, Hagan commented. Sometimes we get caught up in our daily routines and it’s not until we have an absence of something until we truly appreciate it.” ....
When he volunteered to be the first Med Center Health employee to take the new Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for COVID-19 on Monday, Dr. William Moss couldnât help but think of his late colleague Dr. Rebecca Shadowen, who lost her life to the virus in September. If the vaccine had been ready for distribution at that time, Moss said, âit would have been her in my seat.â âShe was a pioneer in this area, in this community and helped so many people,â Moss said of Shadowen, an infectious disease specialist with Med Center Health who regularly urged the public to take COVID-19 seriously. ....

Redmond man jailed on attempted murder charge in Bend attack on mother Deschutes County Jail Ryan Michael Shinn BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A 40-year-old Redmond man was arrested on attempted murder and other charges, alleging he strangled and seriously injured his mother during a dispute at her southwest Bend home, police said Friday. Bend police responded around 9:45 a.m. Thursday to a 911 call of a domestic dispute at a home in the 19000 block of Aspen Meadow Drive, Sgt. Eric Hagan said. Officers learned Ryan Michael Shinn had strangled his 61-year-old mother during a dispute, inflicting serious injuries requiring her to be taken by ambulance to St. Charles Bend, Hagan said. ....
