(WAFF) - Skies remain clear overnight with calm conditions, patchy fog may develop with overnight lows staying mild in the low to middle 50s. Cloud cover will increase on Tuesday with temps just slightly cooler as a result, highs will be in the mid to upper 70s. Wednesday looks to be our best chance of seeing scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, temps will also be cooler in the middle 60s. Thursday and Friday look mainly dry with temps running well below average in the mid to upper 60s to round out the week. ....
The Covid-19 crisis has revealed how unequal our societies are, said United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in his message released on Monday for the World Health Day. Highlighting the inequalities and injustices that have been apparent throughout the pandemic, the UN chief said in his message for the day to be marked on Wednesday that the vast majority of vaccine doses administered so far have been confined to a few wealthy countries or those producing the shots cleared for distribution, the Xinhua news agency reported. Within countries, illness and death from Covid-19 has been higher among people and communities that contend with poverty, unfavourable living and working conditions, discrimination and social exclusion, said Guterres. ....
By News Director Jared Atha Voters will go to the polls Tuesday for the Erick and Hammon School District Board of Education General Election and also Cities of Elk City, Erick and Sayre Council member General Election. Those running for school board seats include Aubrey Christian and Clay Ivey in Hammon and Colby Holland and Justin Miller for the office number one seat on the Erick School Board. Also in Erick Michelle Cox and Robert Lee Williams will be squaring off for the office number three seat on the school board. Voters in Erick will also be deciding who will occupy the council member seat in ward two. Mark T. Byrne and David Brinkley will be running against each other for that position. ....
