Colleges holding clinics to vaccinate students against the coronavirus

In Stark County Kent State University and the Stark County Health Department will host a vaccination clinic from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 19 at the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities Whipple-Dale Centre. The clinic, which will be staff by the health department with Kent State volunteers, is open only to students at Kent State s Stark and Tuscarawas campuses.  Stark State spokeswoman Robyn Steinmetz said the college has been in contact with the state to determine how it can fulfill the vaccination program requirements and doesn t yet have a specific clinic date for its students.  Clinics in Kent and Akron underway

Kent State police investigating racist graffiti Kent State University police are investigating a reported racist act of vandalism on campus. In a letter to students, faculty and staff, university President Todd Diacon, along with other senior staffers, said an obscenity was written on a campus fixture. This act of vandalism comes from a place of hate, and Kent State will not tolerate it, Diacon said. The Kent State Police Department was immediately made aware of the incident and has begun a criminal investigation. On the 25th anniversary of the end of WAKC, an encore presentation of a staff reunion from 2016 Twenty-five years ago, Akron lost its only local TV newsroom. After four decades of struggling to compete with Cleveland s TV stations including fellow ABC affiliate, WEWS WAKC-TV was bought by Paxson Communications, which quickly dropped its local programming.
