Pfizer vaccine eligibility age from 16 to 12, Seattle Public Schools is helping organize clinics for students. Here’s what Aida Fraser-Hammer sent this message to families: Seattle Public Schools is partnering with the City of Seattle, Seattle Fire Department, and city’s Department of Education and Early Learning to organize and host a vaccination clinic at the Nino Cantu Southwest Athletic Complex for all students 12 and up. The first dose will be administered next Monday 5/17 and the second dose will be administered on 6/7. Clinics will be operated and staffed by Seattle Fire Department and students must bring a signed permission slip with them to get the vaccine. More information will be shared with you this week. ....
COVID CASE: Genesee Hill Elementary families received email sent by principal Gerrit Kischner on Friday afternoon announcing a student had tested positive: … I am writing to let you know that one of our students is confirmed to have COVID-19. The student was last in the building April 19th after exposure during Spring Break. Students and adults who came in close contact with this student have been identified, notified, and are following Public Health guidelines to isolate and/or quarantine for 10 days. With sports and other activities restarting, several families have notified us this week that they have kept their children home for testing \because of possible exposure in the home or community. We are glad that this appears to be a single positive case at this time, with no transmission in the building. Please continue to notify us of possible concerns so that we can remain vigilant. … ....
Denise Juneau to the CSIHS community: We are pleased to announce Mr. Ray Morales, currently an assistant principal at Cleveland High School, has been selected as the next principal of Chief Sealth International High School. The hiring team, which included students, community members, teachers, classroom support staff, and SPS leaders recommended Mr. Morales based on his clear vision for students, his focus on equity and inclusion, and his commitment to the rigorous profile of a graduate that have grounded Chief Sealth’s philosophy as an international, 21st century high school. Mr. Morales is a Seattle native who values education, social justice, and service. He earned his BA at University of Washington, his Masters in Social Work at Columbia University, and his Principal Certification at Seattle University. Mr. Morales will begin as principal on July 1, 2021. ....
