IPG s Jed Hallam is leading a new industry forum for working-class people in adland. The group, called Common People, aims to reduce barriers to entry for people from working-class backgrounds, assist with career development and be a space where people can share their career journeys as a source of inspiration.
Hallam who attended a comprehensive school in the ex-mining village of Swanwick in Derbyshire has been engaging in private conversations about his journey into the creative industry, where he now works as head of IPG Mediabrands creative practice, Mediabrands Content Studio. ....

Voting is taking place in Wales, in Scotland and all over England today. There are so many elections taking place that the British press has dubbed it “Super Thursday.” Yesterday, Boris Johnson put out this brief video encouraging everyone to get out and vote.
As I write this, polls will be closing fairly soon; however, because of COVID restrictions the results of nearly all of those elections aren’t expected until Friday morning at the soonest and some won’t be resolved before Sunday. She is. She really, really is. 
In terms of galleries, I think that galleries can remove some of the snobbery around the gallery experience and stop acting like they don’t want to sell their art because that’s really off-putting. And for someone like me, who doesn’t know anything about the art world, when a gallery is off-putting, I just assume nothing is for sale. I’ll leave and go spend my money somewhere else. I think that attitude is really terrible. But I also think how they treat their employees is really terrible. I’m not particularly interested in spending my money in a place that exploits people. So I think just fixing themselves up would help stop being terrible.  ....
