If anyone had informed me that the writer’s block which I had been experiencing from the third week in December 2020 till Friday, January 29, 2021 would be unblocked and blown to smithereens by the news of the demise of Emilia Asim-Ita, I would not have found such futuristic revelation comforting, I would have shut it down and discarded it for numerous reasons (some of which I would highlight here).

A Japanese woman who said she hid her mother’s corpse in a freezer in her apartment for a decade told police she feared eviction if the death was discovered, media reported on Saturday.
Police told AFP that Yumi Yoshino, 48, was held “on suspicion of abandoning and hiding a female body” found on Wednesday in a freezer in a Tokyo apartment.
Yoshino said after finding her mother dead 10 years ago, she hid the body because she “didn’t want to move out” of the home they shared, local media reported, citing unnamed police sources.
The mother, thought to have been aged around 60 at the time of her death, was named on the lease of the apartment in a municipal housing complex, Kyodo News said. ....

The death of Emilia Asim-Ita, co-founder of The Future Awards Africa and former partner, Red Media Africa, came as a rude shock to Nigerians.
In a chat with newsmen, her brother, Williams Asim-Ita, revealed that she died after an appendicitis surgery at the age of 33.
He said, “My sister died yesterday at about 8:20 am. She had an appendix rupture. The appendix had a small lump underneath it and that lump burst; that spleen went to her intestines and it polluted some parts of her intestine. She had to go through a surgery to cut the affected part of the intestines. It was successful as it was done by a specialist.” ....
