Sophie and Emily Harrison are both learning to play musical instruments, and it was their interest in music that led them to step in and help when Reed s St Mary’s Church was forced by the COVID pandemic to cancel public worship. The girls, 13, learned hymns and songs for each weekly service to be broadcast on YouTube and recorded these with their parents, ready for Sunday morning. SOUTHBURY â The Board of Selectmen, meeting Thursday, May 20, approved a resolution during a public hearing for Ascentria Care Alliance regarding its ownership of the Lutheran Home. Attorney Gail E. McTaggart, Secor, Cassidy, & McPartland, explained the requirement to hold such a hearing to benefit investors and bond holders of a $35 million bond. Ms. McTaggart noted that there is no obligation to the town; the federal regulations for bonding require a public hearing in towns where the properties are located. A planned renovation of the rest home will address the only remaining piece of the property that has not been upgraded. The home has been part of the community for 100 years. ....
