Sally Abé’s new restaurant to be called The Pem when it opens in July Sally Abé’s new restaurant at the Conrad London St James is to be called The Pem, a name inspired by suffragette Emily Wilding Davison. Named in honour of Davidson, whose family used the pet name ‘Pem’ for her, the new restaurant celebrates generations of pioneering women leading from the front, which is reflected in Abé’s choice of senior team. Head chef at The Pem will be Laetizia Keating, who has previously worked with Abé at the Harwood Arms, and before that at restaurants including Benu and Mirazur, while Emma Underwood, previously of Darby’s restaurant, has been appointed general manager. ....

Emily Harman, 23, is a disability support worker and an active volunteer in the local community. Emily joined the Playford Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) six years ago at the same time she re-entered back into education. “It has shaped me – it gave me the drive to volunteer and it was that stepping stone,” Emily said. “I started back into education two days a week and then I started YAC, and from there I then joined my school leadership team, HYPA’s youth leadership team and then moved onto Rotaract.” ....
