Leon Grimes A preliminary hearing was held Friday morning in Christian District Judge Foster Cotthoffâs courtroom on the July 4 Hazel Street murder case, which was ultimately forwarded to be heard by the Christian County Grand Jury. The suspect accused in the murder, Leon Grimes, 49, appeared in Cotthoffâs court along with his private defense attorney Ted Shouse. Grimes is accused of shooting and killing Calvin Buckner, 28, at a party in the early morning hours of July 4. As the hearing began, Christian County Assistant Attorney Katherine Foster called Hopkinsville Police Detective Jason Sears to the stand to testify on what evidence had been accrued against Grimes. ....
The Wildwood World comes to Hopkinsville this Saturday as the Missoula Childrenâs Theater presents the Jim Caron adaptation of Hansel and Gretel with the show beginning at 4 p.m. at the Alhambra Theatre. Emily Vos, a member of the 2018 Lady Dutch track and field champions and an individual title winner in the 200 meters, placed 6th in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in the 400 meters and was on the 4×400 team that placed second for the UNI Panthers. Vos has battled several injuries since heading to Cedar Falls, but looks to have a breakout campaign as a junior. Former Pella boys distance and cross country competitors Nick Bernhagen and Joshua Van Dusseldorp competed at the NAIA National Indoor Championships with the Northwestern College Distance Medley Relay. Van Dusseldorp also competed in the 600 meter race, placing 11th. ....
