NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) – A science class gone wrong has resulted in a lawsuit against New York’s Barnard College.
On Feb. 24, student Emily Orman sued Barnard in New York County Supreme Court, claiming it failed to keep students safe on Sept. 25, 2019, in her Modern Techniques of Organic Chemistry course.
Orman complains that she wasn’t provided protective gear when she was disposing of chemicals used during class.
“Orman sustained injuries to her body, neck and arms, including… severe burns resulting in permanent scars and disfigurement,” the lawsuit says.
It adds that the injuries are permanent and that Orman has been confined first to a hospital, then to her bed and home while spending money for medical attention. She also says she has suffered mental anguish.
