We’ve been featuring just a few amazing Black Ohioans who have helped shape public policy for the better. The ceremonial arch at Cleveland s African-American Cultural Garden was dedicated in 2016. Cleveland architect Daniel Bickerstaff intended it as the first phase of a larger project. The angled black walls below the arch represent the Door of No Return at Elmina Castle in Ghana, through which enslaved Africans passed before the Middle Passage to New World colonies. Steven Litt
