Further works in Hamley Bridge and Balaklava’s main street developments have been given the green light after Wakefield Regional Council (WRC) committed an extra $500,000 grant funding to the project.
The Main Street Upgrade project, supported by the Federal Government’s Drought Communities Program, now covers street spraying in Balaklava for Howe Street and Edith Terrace and kerb upgrades in George Street.
In Hamley Bridge, Light Street will receive major renewal works to the road surface and a footpath upgrade, as well as footpath upgrades to Annie Street.
The additional works will be supported with funding from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI). ....

Haverhill May Need to Invest in Merrimack Street Parking Deck Even as It Seeks to Demolish It

Although the city wants a developer to buy and demolish the downtown Haverhill parking deck, it requires emergency repairs to at least temporarily restore more than a dozen parking spaces.
Council President Melinda E. Barrett told her colleagues Tuesday she noticed a number of parking spaces at the Herbert H. Goecke Jr. Memorial Parking Deck are out of commission.
“There was a crack in the upper deck there so, subsequently, some metal plates were put down. We’ve lost maybe seven spots up top and maybe nine spots down below, behind the Pentucket Bank,” she said. ....

In an email to Daily Hive Urbanized, the City of Vancouver states the delays are due to the complexity of the work, as the plaza is being built over underground floor area. There were also impacts from COVID-19 and challenging weather conditions, including snow, freezing temperatures, and record-breaking rainfall last winter.
The municipal government says the finishing touches to the plaza involve applying a specialized material to the plaza pavers that form a walkable surface. This installation is temperature dependent and requires dry weather, and when this work is complete the plaza will be ready to reopen to the public. ....
