Facebook asks the court to dismiss the FTC’s antitrust complaint
Last fall, after more than a year-and-a-half of Congressional committee hearings and investigations into the power of technology companies such as Google, Facebook, and Twitter, the government released a comprehensive report alleging anti-competitive conduct. The report, which called for a number of “structural remedies” including that the companies be broken up also gave momentum to an almost unprecedented number of state and federal antitrust actions. One of those was a lawsuit against Facebook brought by the Federal Trade Commission, backed by an investigation conducted alongside forty-nine states; the suit alleged a wide range of monopolistic behavior. Twitter takes down accounts in India amid farmers protests, but not enough for Modi


Twitter suspended 500 accounts in India and said the Indian government issued takedown requests.
The social media site temporarily complied but has since restored some of the accounts. 
This is happening as Narendra Modi s government cracks down on farmer protests.
Twitter is looking down the barrel of a political disaster in India.
In a blog post published Wednesday, the social media company said it has suspended 500 accounts in India who were engaging in clear examples of platform manipulation and spam. It also said it blocked certain terms from appearing in its trending section, but did not say what these terms were.  ....

Sen. Ed Markey wrote a letter to Mark Zuckerberg condemning Facebook s practice of recommending political groups to people.
Facebook s system of recommending political groups poses grave threats to American democracy and public safety, Markey wrote.
The letter references the siege on the US Capitol on January 6 insurrectionists were found to have organized online.
